Plans started for Wild West Day

Last week’s Chamber of Commerce sponsored FamilyFest was declared a success by manager Mary Beth Jones, who is already hard at work on a new Chamber-sponsored Wild West Day planned April 27.

“I’m guessing that we had at least 150 people at the golf course,” Jones said. “The food was great, the weather was beautiful, and kids were running around all over the place having fun. We were really excited, especially with folks from out of town who came and joined the Chamber.”

Jones said that 16 people signed up for memberships at the event.

“It was a blast,” she said. “We have new members to welcome and current members to thank.”

The Chamber will hold a FamilyFest again, according to Jones, but right now she is focused on the Chamber’s next big event, Wild West Day, to be held in downtown Albany on April 27.

The day will begin with the annual car show, followed by Wild West Day activities starting at noon.

Vendors selling home crafted and Texas goods, an amateur crooners contest, two melodramas, children’s activities, and fiddlers are just some of the plans.

“Please contact me if you want to help with Wild West Days,” Jones said.

Jones can be reached at the Chamber office during business hours Tuesday through Friday by calling 325-762-2525.
