Activities planned in Moran this month have included fundraisers, starting a community garden, and painting activities.

Ladies are invited a fun and creative activity planned at the Moran Community Center this Saturday evening, March 14.

The “Ladies Paint Night” is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.

Cost is $10 a person and includes canvases and paint, though attendees are encouraged to bring a pair of canvas shoes and try something new.

To reserve a spot, contact Christal Herrell at 325-669-3667.

Children interested in painting canvas shoes might have a chance to do so at their next paint party on Saturday, March 21.

“I’m thinking of getting canvas shoes and letting the kids paint and decorate them, if I can find enough,” said organizer Tiffany Waddell. “If your child plans to come, please let me know, and send me their shoe size, just in case. As always, this is free to everyone, and lunch is included.”

Garden Plot

Wet weather has postponed plowing the community garden.

“It’s just been too wet to plow,” said organizer Teresa King. “A volunteer tried to plow on Sunday, but his tractor just bogged down. I’ve asked him to try again whenever he thinks it might be dry enough.”

Karen Bishop and King are encouraging Moran residents to work together on the community garden, with each participant contributing what they can, and all sharing in the resulting fresh-grown produce.

The garden plot will be on the corner of Putnam Road and Woodrow Avenue, on land owned by King.

“Everybody in town who is willing to put in some effort is invited to participate,” said Bishop.

Chair Lift Fundraiser

Organizers were very pleased with the support they received at last Saturday’s fundraiser for the First Baptist Church of Moran.

“I would just like to thank all the people who made our bake sale such a success,” said Cynthia Gilmore. “With donations and sales, we made enough to pay for the stair chair lift, and we will be getting it installed as soon as possible. Thank you again for your support, and may God bless you all.”
