One-act play to be performed

Everyone is invited to attend this Sunday’s public performance of The Fourth Ward, the one-act play Albany High School students will take to district competition next week.

The free production will be given at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, in the AHS auditorium.

The cast has been rehearsing for weeks and already performed at a one-act play festival earlier this month.

“The festival went well, and we got a lot of good feedback in our critiques,” said co-director Jenny Scott. “Our cast and crew are great to work with and have been putting in a lot of hours to make sure we are ready.”

Locals are invited to come and enjoy the play and help the students practice performing in front of a live audience.

The Fourth Ward by Amanda Guthrie is loosely based on the life of Jacob Riis, who used his invention of flash photography to capture struggles endured by immigrant families in New York in the 1890s and early 1900s.

Cast members are William Webb, Hannah Trail, Haley Stewart, Cydney Nelson, B.J. Morris, Caroline Masters, Alayna Koemel, Seth Hale, Bryson Davis, Braden Davis, Cameron Dacus, Cutter Cowart, Susie Cormack, Jackson Chapman, and Kam Browning, with alternates Tana Thompson, Gerardo Rodriguez, and Chris Hensley.

Taylor Scott, Brooks Neece, Riley Green, Kade Everitt, and Zion Belisle make up the crew.

Directors are Jenny Scott and Jonathan Scott.

The 2A District 8 OAP meet is in Stamford on Wednesday, March 6, starting at 11:00 a.m.

Cross Plains will be on stage first, followed on a rolling schedule by Hawley, Albany, Haskell, Stamford, and Roscoe Collegiate.
