The annual field day and track meet for Nancy Smith Elementary School preschool through sixth grade students is set for Monday, May 20 at the high school track facility.

The events are scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m., according to NSES administrative assistant Stephanie Gleitz.

Events for pre-Kindergarten, Head Start, kindergarten, first, and second graders will include sack races, hurdles, tug-of-war, water kickball, and water relay. Third through sixth graders will compete in those events as well as in some running and field events.

A sack lunch will be provided to all students.

The students will be dismissed from the elementary school campus at 1:30 p.m.

“Parents are welcome to come help with the events,” said Gleitz.

Parents and other volunteers typically help by working as starters and by measuring and recording times and distances.

“Individual homeroom teachers will be in communication with parents if other volunteer areas are needed,” Gleitz added.

The elementary school will not host a pool day this spring. Instead, like last year, some water events have been added to the field day for a combined Field Day and Splash Day.
