New, Hawley crowned as Moran royalty

Kaylin New and Jesse Hawley were crowned as the 2018 Homecoming Queen and King during the halftime festivities in Moran on Friday, Sept. 14, during the Bulldogs’ non-district game with Sidney.

Homecoming Queen

Kaylin New has gone to Moran since the first grade. 

The senior played volleyball all four years of high school and was listed as all-district honorable mention her junior year. 

She played on the Lady Bulldog varsity tennis team throughout her high school years, and qualified for the regional meet her junior year.

The 2018 Homecoming Queen was a cheerleader for three years and served two years on the leadership team. She was chosen as homecoming princess her junior year.

New worked at the Albany City Pool as a lifeguard over the summer.

After high school she plans to attend Cisco College in Abilene and then transfer to a four-year university to study pharmacology.

New is the daughter of Michelle and Steve Taggart of Moran. 

2018 King

Jesse Hawley attended Moran school his entire educational career. 

Hawley has been on the Bulldog varsity football team all four years of high school and was named to the second string all-district team last year.

The Homecoming King played on the Moran varsity basketball squad throughout high school, was on the track team for three years, and competed in powerlifting for one year. 

He was also a member of Moran FFA, and was chosen as homecoming prince by his classmates last year.

After high school, Hawley plans to serve his country by joining the Air Force.

He is the son of Teresa and Lance Hawley of Moran.  

Homecoming Court

Other members of the homecoming court were Princess November Meredith, Prince Jonas Cadena, Duchess Baylee Orsak, Duke Corbin Roberts, Lady in Waiting Rashaely Shafer, Page Braden Crow, FFA Sweetheart Johnnie Hise, and FFA Beau Curry Pendleton.

Also honored were Queen candidates Hannah Whitehead, Summer Pederson, Khloe New, Destiny Laurents, and Emma Hensley, and King nominees Ethan Smith, Curry Pendleton, Kobee Lapp, and K.J. Henderson.
