Music festival to benefit local programs

A musical fundraiser for ResourceCare will take place from 1:00 p.m. until 12:00 midnight on Saturday, Aug. 11 at Happy Wife Happy Life Weddings and Events Venue near Albany, and Carefest ticket holders will be able to enjoy hours of live music while they help raise money for a good cause.

The one-day music festival will feature 11 different bands each playing for about an hour on one of two stages.

The lineup includes Jenna McDaniel, Johnny Cooper, Sierra Scott Band, Steve Helms, Wandering Daisy, Randy Brown, Phil Hamilton, Larry Joe Taylor, Brandon Rhyder, Deryl Dodd, and Bart Crow.

All of the proceeds from the event will be used to help fund ResourceCare’s community outreach programs in Albany, Baird, Breckenridge, Clyde, Cross Plains, and Merkel, according to event organizer Ragan Riley.

“Things are going really well, and we are encouraging people to log on to www.outhousetickets.com and purchase tickets beforehand, because if they wait until they get to the gate, the prices will be higher,” Riley said. “And we are close to selling out the VIP option which gets guests into our barn, and includes a free meal, snacks, and front row seating at both stages!”

The air-conditioned “barn” at Happy Wife Happy Life has men and women’s rest rooms and includes a place where VIP ticket holders can meet the bands and enjoy an all-day buffet including homemade desserts, snacks, tea, water, and soda.

General admission ticket holders can purchase food from one of five food trucks at the event, or bring in a cooler by purchasing a cooler pass.

Ticket Prices

There are only 50 VIP tickets available for the event. The VIP tickets were $250 each if purchased early, or $300 apiece for any still for sale after Aug. 1.

Up to 100 preferred tickets will be sold, and they cost $150 in advance, $200 if purchased from Aug. 1-10, or $250 at the gate.

General admission tickets are $60 between now and Aug. 10, and $70 at the event.

Cooler passes are $25 at regular prices, or $30 on the day of the event.

Community Programs

“This is a fundraiser that will support all aspects of our community from young to old,” Riley said. “One hundred percent of proceeds are going back into the community through our outreach programs. We want this to be a huge fundraiser for not only ResourceCare, but for the whole community.”

ResourceCare programs that will benefit from money raised from Carefest include Summer Day Camp, senior citizens luncheons, ASPIRE, Vittles by Vehicle, Christmas for Teens, community outreach, and emergency assistance.

“Our care and concern for a patient goes beyond just their physical health,” said program director Mindy Ary. “We understand that if you can’t afford health care, you may not be able to pay for your basic utilities or have enough to feed your children. Our outreach department is the heart and soul of our organization.”

Case managers attempt to find resources that can provide for patients in need, according to Ary.

“Many times the help needed is just temporary,” Ary said. “But it can make a big difference in a person’s life.”

ResourceCare’s stated mission is to provide exceptional health care and outreach services to the communities they serve in the Big Country area, through medical, dental, and behavioral health access for all.
