Big Country Piggin and the Timothy Project raised more than $2,000 to assist with medical expenses for Albany resident Willie Mosley, and the amount is expected to increase once raffle totals are obtained.

In addition, donations are still being accepted for Mosley at Clear Fork Bank.

On Saturday, Sept. 9, a day-long cornhole tournament and evening concert were held at Jackson Warehouse to benefit Mosley.

Organizer Bill Hall said the event raised approximately $2,300.

“But we’re still going,” Hall said. “We’ve still got stuff we’re raffling, which will be out for the next two weeks. We’re going to try to double the amount we raised.”

Hall said raffle information is available on the Big Country Piggin and Timothy Project Facebook Pages.

For the last four years, Big Country Piggin has conducted a Hunt for the Cure to benefit children with terminal or life-altering illness as well as other fundraising projects. The group conducts guided pig hunts throughout the area.

The Timothy Project is a non-profit organization that finds mentors for youth who live in a home without a father.

Hall said contributions to help cover Mosley’s medical expenses will be accepted by either organization.

Mosley has been a member of Big Country Piggin since its inception.

“Willie and I have known each other for a long time,” Hall said. “We served together in the Army National Guard. He’s helped us out when we need help with Big Country Piggin.”
