MISD hosts veterans lunch Monday

The Moran Independent School District hosted its annual Veterans Day luncheon at the school auditorium on Monday, Nov. 12.

“We had a small turnout, probably due to the frigid weather,” said superintendent Danny Freeman. “But we were able to display photos of local veterans that were recently donated to the Moran Museum.”

Thanksgiving Meal

Moran ISD’s annual Thanksgiving meal is being served today, Nov. 15.

Family members are invited to come to the school and sit down to eat a traditional Thanksgiving meal with their children.

Pre-K and kindergarten students begin lunch at 10:40 a.m., first to fifth graders eat at 11:00 a.m., junior high is served at 11:40 p.m., and high school students dine at 12:35.

“We will be happy to accommodate families who wish to have their entire family together at any chosen lunch time,” said Freeman. “We hope you can join us!”

Second Six Weeks Awards

MISD had an award assembly on Friday, Nov. 9, to recognize student achievement, including perfect attendance, making the A-B Honor roll, and making the A Honor Roll, during the second six weeks.

World of Work

Moran high school students were scheduled to attend the World of Work (WOW) youth expo in Abilene yesterday, Nov. 14.

The purpose of WOW is to expose, educate, and engage ninth to 12th grade students with employers and organizations as well as post-secondary schools in the region, according to the sponsor, Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas. 

Thanksgiving Break

Classes at MISD release for Thanksgiving break tomorrow, Nov. 16, at the normal time.

Monday, Nov. 19 is a student holiday and staff comp day, and the entire campus will be closed for Thanksgiving the rest of the week, Tuesday, Nov. 20 through Friday, Nov. 23.

Classes resume at the usual times on Monday, Nov. 26.
