Local entries place at State Fair

Moran senior J.T. Holland won the Champion Brahman Prospect steer banner at the Texas State Fair last Wednesday, Oct. 2, and he also claimed seventh place in the lightweight AOB youth market steer class the following day.

Albany junior Hannah Snyder took third place in a very tough class of Hampshire youth market barrows on Tuesday, Oct. 1. The top two pigs in her class were eventually chosen as overall Grand and Reserve Champion barrows of the show. 

Also showing pigs at Dallas were Carli Edgar and Tatum Grady. Gracie Price showed a steer in the AOB division.

Price is entered in the heifer show next week.

The state fair runs from Sept. 27 through Oct. 20.

Local youths who placed at the Texas State Fair were as follows:

Youth Prospect Steers: Class 1 Lightweight Brahman - 1. JT Holland; Class 2A Champion Brahman Prospect Steer - JT Holland. 

Youth Market Steers: Class 17 Lightweight AOB - 7. JT Holland. 

Youth Market Barrows: Class 11 Heavyweight Hampshires - 3. Hannah Snyder.
