Easter will be celebrated on Sunday, April 4 this year, and local churches are announcing special services and activities.

Community Easter Service

The Ministerial Alliance continues to work on plans for the Easter Community Service.

This year’s Easter event is called AWAKEN and will be held at the Aztec  Theater at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 28.

Alliance members have planned for the event to include out-of-town speakers and a worship team.

Free child care will be provided by the senior class and parents courtesy of the Ministerial Alliance.

There will be a limited number of spots for child care, and parents must pre-register their children by Friday, March 26.

Parents can contact senior parent Tisha Wilkins at 325-660-7443.

Albany United

Methodist

The Albany United Methodist Church will hold a “SonRise Service” at Stasney’s Cook Ranch inside or just outside of the cook shack, depending on the weather conditions.

The breakfast will begin at 7:00 a.m. followed by the service at 7:30 a.m.

Albany residents of all denominations are invited to participate in the service, which will conclude before Sunday School classes and morning services begin within their own denominations.

Breakfast will be provided for everyone in attendance.

Bethel Assembly

Bethel Assembly members will hold their annual Easter celebration on April 4, including lunch and an egg hunt.

The Sunday service will begin at 10:30 a.m. and the events will follow the service.

The service and activities are open to the public.

Matthews Memorial

Presbyterian Church

Matthews Memorial Presbyterian will have church services at the regular time on Easter Sunday, followed by an egg hunt for the children after the service.

First Christian Church

First Christian Church will hold a Maundy Thursday service at 7:00 p.m. on April 1.

The congregation will have Easter morning services, including the flowering of the cross, at the regular Sunday worship time of 11:00 a.m.
