At least three local churches have special events for students scheduled to take place next week, and all of them have invited area youth to join in their activities.

Aug. 25 – C of C

The Church of Christ’s annual back to school pool party will be held this Sunday, Aug. 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Webb Park Pool.

“All of our church is invited, including all of the kids,” said pastor Sonny McCauley. “Visitors are welcome to join us.”

Junior high and high school students are also welcome to join the church’s Youth in Action kids. The youth group meets on Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m., at The Feed Store the first Wednesday of the month and at various locations on other Wednesdays for their meal and Bible study.

Younger students as well as adults meet at the church on Wednesday evenings, starting at 5:45 p.m.

Aug. 28 – FBC

First Baptist Church will start out the fall Jesus and Me (JAM) weekly meetings with a back to school party on Wednesday, Aug. 28 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

“We will meet at the fellowship hall at church for supper, games, and activities,” said member Alison Gardenhire.

JAM is geared toward children from kindergarten to sixth grade. Kids participate in worship through song, enjoy a homemade meal, grow together through the Word of God, and play some great games, according to Gardenhire.

“On Sept. 4 we will hit the ground running with JAM meeting on Wednesdays from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.,” she added.

Aug. 28 – Friendship

Friendship Baptist Church also has a fun back to school event planned next Wednesday evening, Aug. 28.
