Local churches change meeting times

First United Methodist Church pastor Tim Trimble announced this week that the FUMC congregation will continue to meet this week for Sunday worship at 11:00 a.m.

They will start next week meeting again for weekly Men’s Prayer and Bible Study on Tuesday at 6:00 a.m., Kids Club on Wednesday at 4:00 a.m., Bible study on Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m., and Celebrate Recovery group at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.  

First Baptist Church members plan to change back to a one-service format this Sunday with the congregation meeting at 10:45 a.m. 

Sunday school is still postponed until a later date.

First Baptist Church pastor Jeff Turner said the staff realized the church had the capacity to allow for the 50 percent -threshold in one service.

“One service will give some normalcy back to the church family, while still maintaining a safe distance for members,” Turner said.

Turner added the service will be limited to two entrances, the front steps and the back fellowship hall. Hand sanitizing stations will be set up. The church will also be disinfected before and after the service.
