Local churches announce plans

Churches were included in Governor Abbott’s Monday afternoon press conference that gave details about the first phase of reopening the state.
Some Albany churches will begin Sunday to return to in-person services.
Friendship Baptist Church
Pastor Paul Johnston said Friendship Baptist Church will have two worship services this Sunday, one at 9:15 a.m. and the other at 10:55 a.m.
“We recommend that masks be worn for self-protection and the protection of others,” Johnston said.
First Baptist Church
First Baptist Church will also hold two services, one at 9:15 a.m. and the other at 10:45 a.m.
First Baptist Church Pastor Jeff Turner said the church will disinfect between services. Also, members will be personally contacted to explain the 50 percent occupancy rules and safety precautions.
The service will also be online.
First United
Methodist Church
The Methodist Church is also planning to meet this Sunday.
Pastor Tim Trimble said more details would be announced after the church council met on Wednesday.
Albany
Church of Christ
Pastor Sonny McCauley said his congregation will meet to worship this Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
There will be no classes or fellowship meal. A Facebook live service will still be broadcast.
First Christian Church
FCC members will meet Sunday in their sanctuary to worship at 10:00 a.m. They will use distance precautions.
Pastor Brad McBee will broadcast his Facebook live service at 11:00 a.m.
The Feed Store
Feed Store executive director Tisha Wilkins said the youth ministry will continue with online contact.
“When Phase II is announced and put into action, we will reevaluate how to proceed with summer activities,” Wilkins said.
