Little League signup, along with registering for T-ball and coach pitch teams, takes place tonight at the Feed Store between 6:00 and 7:30 p.m.

Little League players only need to go with their parents to the registration so that they can try on a jersey and cap for size.

It is not necessary for T-ball and coach pitch youth to attend the meeting, according to Anthony Ceder, who is helping to organize the team.

However, parents of the younger players do need to turn in their completed registration forms along with the registration fee either that night or to the Nancy Smith Elementary School office by Thursday.

Registration fees, which are used to provide insurance, jerseys, caps, umpires, equipment, and field maintenance are $40 for T-ball, $50 for coach pitch, and $75 for Little League.

There is a 25 percent discount for families who have three or more players.

The fees need to be paid that night unless parents set up a payment plan with league president Paul Hamilton.

Parents of Little League players also need to bring a school enrollment form, to the meeting tonight, as well as a copy of birth certificates, if their child has not competed in Little League before.

Copies of birth certificates for those who have played on an Albany Little League team in the past should still be on file with the league, and it is not necessary to bring another copy.

Also, those forms are not needed for T-ball or coach pitch registration.

“Little League players need to come to the meeting even if they have played before,” said Ceder. “We need them to try on a jersey and cap.”

Ceder said that parents and Little League players can come to the Feed Store and sign up any time during the 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. registration window.

Parents and all coaches will need to fill out and turn in a volunteer form.

Try-Outs

Try-outs for those playing in Little League for the first time will take place Saturday, Feb. 22 at 5:00 p.m., and make-up try-outs will be the following day, Feb. 23, at 5:00 p.m.

“We don’t have try-outs for T-ball or coach pitch,” added Ceder, “but players entering Little League for the first time must try out and be drafted.”

Little League is designed for boys and girls between eight and 12 years of age.

“Players who turn eight before Aug. 31, 2020 will play in Little League,” said Ceder. “Students who are 13 or older before Aug. 31, 2020 are not eligible.”

Questions can be directed to Ceder or Hamilton.
