After much anticipation, the Shackelford County Library will reopen on Mondays only, starting June 1 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Albany Study Club member Janna Ledbetter said the library will be limited to four patrons at a time. Gloves will be provided by the library to wear, and a face covering from home will be required to be worn while readers are inside the building.

“We will limit one person at a time on a computer in order to sanitize them between uses,” Ledbetter said. “Readers will be allowed in the library in 30 minute increments and  elementary aged children need to be accompanied by an adult.”

Ledbetter added that the Monday open time is primarily for readers to return and check out books. Curbside delivery is also available if readers know what book they would like and call ahead.

“All returned books will be sanitized and quarantined for one week before they are put back into circulation,” Ledbetter said.

The library is following CDC guidelines for social distancing and the recommendation to stay home if sick or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19.

Ledbetter stated that if the reopening goes well, the library will reopen in July with normal hours and with strict safety guidelines in place.
