Albany High School graduate Gracie LeMay has been awarded the Big Country Athletic Hall of Fame Scholarship offered by Nancy and Ted Paup.

This scholarship fund is managed by the Community Foundation of Abilene.

The annual award goes to an Albany student who is in the top 25 percent of the class and participated in varsity athletics.

LeMay will attend Texas Tech University in the fall and plans to study Agricultural Business.

Throughout high school, LeMay was a member of the Kids Junior Rodeo Association, American Junior Rodeo Association, and the Texas High School Rodeo Association.

In 2017, she won the All-Around Saddle award in the 15-19-year-old age division as a freshman at the KJRA. In 2017 she also qualified for the THSRA state finals in goat tying.

She did not compete in 2018 due to double knee injuries. In 2019, she qualified for the AJRA finals in goat tying, breakaway roping, and ribbon roping. LeMay qualified for the 2020 THSRA state finals in goat tying and finished third in Region III.

This scholarship was established by Nancy and Ted Paup, who have a heart for the Albany community and a passion for supporting educational opportunities for Albany students.
