The junior high volleyball teams split games last week, with the 8A team getting a win on the road in Newcastle and both seventh grade teams losing at home to Abilene Christian Schools.

The 7A team traveled to Moran on Tuesday, Sept. 24, but results were not available at press time. The other three junior high teams hosted Colorado City on Tuesday.

The 7A and 8A teams are scheduled to play in a tournament Saturday in Hawley starting at 8:00 a.m. for seventh grade and 9:00 a.m. for eighth.

The 8A team will also host Woodson on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 4:15 p.m. The start time is based on the end of the Woodson school day this year.

The 8A girls picked up a 25-16, 25-10 win in Newcastle last week.

“The girls did a great job of hustling after the balls,” coach Jamie Wilson said. “There were also a lot of great serves, including several aces. The girls all worked together to get the win.”

The seventh grade teams both lost at home last Tuesday to Abilene Christian.

The 7A squad fell 25-20, 25-17 to the visitors. Makenna McNeill led in serves with six, followed by Olyvia Perez with four, Jalea Bowman with three, and Ann Davis with two.

The 7B girls lost their match 25-22, 25-14. Scoring on serves were Julia Vega 5, Hannah Mackenzie 3, and Averie Burns 1.
