Health Fair planned this Friday

Booths featuring various agencies and businesses with health and wellness information, health screenings, and fun activities are expected at tomorrow’s 16th annual Shackelford County ResourceCare sponsored spring health fair.

The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m. with activities, including a bounce house, held outdoors at the Bank Park on Friday, May 3.

“However, if it rains or is too muddy, it will be cancelled,” said program assistant Ragan Riley.

The focus of the health fair is primarily on children and children’s programs, according to coordinator Mindy Ary, but the entire family is welcome to come and participate.

Games, snow cones, popcorn, health information, and CHIP sign-up will be available.

Fair Participants

Local elementary classes will attend the health fair on an alternating schedule during regular school hours.

In addition to Albany students, classes from Moran are expected to come to the event.

Vendors will hand out health information and related trinkets.

Health Information

Enrollment and re-enrollment in the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) will be available. A large number of county children have already been signed up for the state program, but must be reenrolled each year.

CHIP is an affordable chil-dren’s health insurance developed for Texas families and their children one to 18 years of age. Fees are based on family income.

Disability in Action, Albany Head Start, and West TX Rehab are among the other organizations expected at the fun educational event.

“Everyone is welcome to attend the health fair,” Ary said.
