Greenhands attend camp

Thirty Albany FFA Greenhands (members who are enrolled in their first year of high school ag science), advisor Chris Beard, chapter officers Madison Wilkins and Cutter Edgar, and district officer Seth Hale all attended the FFA Greenhand Camp held in Abilene at the Taylor County Expo Center last week.

“Our Greenhands got to meet and greet other Greenhands from the Big Country area,” said Beard. “It was a big success, and there were about 700 students participating on each of the two days.”

Greenhands played team building games and heard motivational speakers, according to Beard.

Beard added that he was pleased with how well mannered the Albany students were, and also with how they interacted with the other groups and the various leaders.

“Seth helped lead a session with the other area and district officers,” said Beard. “Madison and Cutter also helped out wherever they were needed.”

Beard’s students will head the opposite direction on Hwy. 180 next week, when the Albany FFA and FCCLA travel to Dallas to participate in Ag Awareness Day at the State Fair of Texas on Tuesday, Oct. 9.
