Grandparents invited to school
Grandparents and “substitute” grandparents of Nancy Smith Elementary School students are invited to join their family members for special lunch, classroom visits, and entertainment during Grandparents Week Nov. 12-16.
The students have been encouraged to invite other relatives, neighbors, friends from church, etc. if they don’t have grandparents, or if their grandparents don’t live nearby.
Also, if there are senior adults in the community who would like to volunteer to eat with students who don’t have grandparents nearby, they are asked to call the NSES office at 762-3384 and let the staff know.
A lunch schedule has been set up for the visitors from Monday through Friday.
If grandparents can’t come on the designated day for their grandchild’s class, they should come when they can.
School officials would like to know as soon as possible if a child’s grandparents (or other guests) will be eating a school lunch with them in the cafeteria, so that cafeteria workers have an accurate count on how many lunches to prepare each day. An adult visitor lunch is $4.
Photos will not be offered this year, but a fall background will be provided for individuals that wish to take pictures with their own equipment, according to principal Jonathan Scott.
Visitors are invited to enter the front doors of the main building, where they will be greeted and asked to sign in. Handicapped parking is available in the teachers parking lot with a sign-in sheet in the cafeteria, to make it easier for some of the guests.
The lunch schedule for next week is as follows:
Monday, Nov. 12 – Head Start, 10:45 a.m.; Third grade, 11:30 a.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 13 – Pre-K, 10:45 a.m.; Fourth grade, 11:40 p.m.
