Friendship Baptist Church has a fun back to school event planned next Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and parents and their elementary aged children are invited to come to the Back to School Bash, enjoy food and fun, and get signed up for Friendship Tribe.

The activities will take place by the church’s gym area and will include a water slide, bounce house, cakewalk, hot dogs, and ice cream.

Junior high and high school students will be able to eat before 7:00  p.m., and then use the water slide from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.

“Parents will need to fill out a registration form for their children when they bring their child,” said member Lavelle Vinson. “We are so excited about our Friendship Tribe at Friendship Baptist Church that we wanted to have a new start for a new year.”

Vinson added that many hours of preparation and prayer have gone into this year’s Wednesday night program.

“Our goal is to have children know about Jesus Christ and come to know him as their Savior,” Vinson said. “Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve your children and help them learn who God is, what His Son did for us, and how we can live our lives for Him.”

The various grade levels will each have a mascot animal, and each group of children will be named for one of the Tribes of Judah, according to Vinson.

“In order to ensure the safety of your children, we ask that you drop off and pick up on the sidewalk at the west side of the church,” said Vinson. “Please enter the gate behind the building and pull along the sidewalk.”

Starting the following week, Sept. 4, the children will meet every Wednesday that school is in session, according to member Tanya Petree.

“We serve them a meal at 5:30 p.m. and then have a Bible study until 7:30 p.m.,” said Petree.

Friendship also has a youth group for those in junior high and high school.

“The older group meets from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesdays year around,” said Petree. “Caleb and Laura Tiemeyer come from Abilene to lead the youth ministry that evening.”
