Flag football underway at AHS baseball field

Twelve teams of local elementary school age boys and girls started playing in the Albany NFL Flag Football league last week, and the season will continue through October.

Each of three divisions has four teams, with just under 100 participants. Games are played at the high school baseball field on Monday afternoons and Saturday mornings.

Two games, both taking place between teams in the same age group, are held at the same time, each on a 50-yard field.

K and 1st Grade

Coaches for the kindergarten and first grade division include Anthony Ceder – Patriots, Jacey Shack – Chargers, Dan Key – Giants, and Spencer Balliew – Bengals.

They play on Mondays at 5:00 p.m. and on Saturdays at 10:00 a.m.

2nd and 3rd Grade

Coaches for the second and third grade division include Matt Bella – Broncos, Tony Wheeler – Steelers, Dustin Parsons – Jaguars, and Joe Tidwell – Falcons.

The second and third graders play on Mondays at 6:00 p.m. and on Saturdays at 11:00 a.m.

4th and 5th Grade

Coaches for the fourth and fifth grade division include Ceder – Texans, Spencer Newsom – Ravens, Sedrick Roberson – Colts, and Shawn Sutton – Cowboys.

The oldest division plays on Mondays at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturdays at 12:00 p.m. 

Pictures of all 12 of the teams will be taken on Saturday, Oct. 19.

Order forms for pictures will be handed out at school next week.
