Flag football teams to play in Super Bowl

The final games of the youth flag football regular season are scheduled to take place tonight (Thursday) and the Super Bowl will take place next week, according to organizer Anthony Ceder.

Although there is an 70 percent chance of rain in the forecast, the 49ers and the Rams plan to take the field today, Nov. 8 at City Park for a 5:00 p.m. bout, followed by the Bills and Redskins at 6:00 p.m.

Two games are also set to take place at the softball field this evening. There will be a 6:30 p.m. match between the Seahawks and the Browns, followed by a 7:30 bout between the Patriots and the Raiders.

The four teams in each one of the age divisions will compete with their peers at Robert Nail Stadium one night next week for the flag football Super Bowl.

“There will be semifinal games going on simultaneously at both ends of the field,” said organizer Anthony Ceder. “The winners from each of those games will then take on each other to determine the champion in that age division.”

Semifinals begin at 6:30 p.m., and the finals start at 7:30 p.m.

The fourth and fifth graders play on Monday, Nov. 12. Kindergartners and first graders will play their bowl games on Tuesday, Nov. 13. The second and third graders’ Super Bowl matchups are on Thursday, Nov. 15.
