Fire damages Brownwood home

Albany News

A house fire in Brownwood at 6:30 a.m. on the morning of April 18 caused major damage to the home of Albany alumnus Aidalu Delgado Price, and although the family is fine and has a temporary place to live, the home was uninsured.

According to Brownwood fire marshal Buddy Preston, the cause of the fire was an overheated plug on a window air conditioner unit.

Bobby Price was at work at the time of the fire, and Aidalu Price was on her way to work at the Brownwood school district.

Two of the couple’s three children were at home when the fire started in a bedroom.

The house is repairable, but suffered extensive smoke and water damage.

According to family friend Annette Harris, the family is currently living in a fifth-wheel trailer parked on the property.

“Right now they don’t need any more clothes; they have already been gifted with all they have room to store,” Harris said. “And Bobby has already gutted the house, so they don’t need workers right now. What they really need is monetary donations for when they start to rebuild.”

Donations can be mailed to Bobby or Aidalu Price Fire Fund, Attn: Bonnie Belvin, Texas Bank, PO Box 1429, Brownwood TX 76801.
