The Feed Store has a lot of events on its December calendar including a senior citizens “Legacy” dinner, a fundraising meal, the annual youth Christmas party, and opportunities for students to study for exams.

Former Feed Store director Grant Zeller and his new wife Emily were the guests of honor at a Christmas ornament shower on Sunday, Dec. 1.

Legacy Dinner

The “Legacy” Seniors Christmas Dinner took place on Monday, Dec. 2.

“This provided a chance for the students to sit down and visit with their grandparents and other seniors in Albany,” said Feed Store youth minister Kathryn Hamilton. “The students served their guests a typical Christmas dinner of turkey, ham, side dishes, and dessert.”

Ski Trip Fundraiser

Participating youth are hoping to raise monies toward the cost of a winter ski trip by selling tickets to a fundraising dinner.

The Christmas Fiesta dinner will be served at the Feed Store at 6:30 p.m. next Sunday, Dec. 8.

“Tickets may be purchased from any student going on the trip to specificaly help them raise their money,” said executive director Tisha Wilkins. “Spencer Newsom, the youth director at Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church, can provide the names of students who are selling tickets. The menu is chicken and beef fajitas with all the sides.”

Tickets can also be purchased at the door, according to Newsom, and take-out containers are available.

Elementary or younger children eat for free, while adults pay $20 per meal.

The annual community youth ski trip will be to Taos, New Mexico on Jan. 1-5. Approximately 32 students are expected to go on the ski trip.

Ugly Sweater Party

Next Monday, Dec. 9 will be the junior high and high school combined Ugly Sweater Christmas Party.

Food, games, and fun should be expected, according to Wilkins.

Study Time

Hamilton plans to have Feed Store open during the afternoons and/or evenings Dec. 16-20, so students have a place where they can study for finals.

The specific hours were not determined at press time.
