Fandangle rehearsals continue

This week Fandangle rehearsals moved outside to the lot next to the Bank Park and began a twice-a-week schedule, with practices at 7:30 p.m. on both Monday and Thursday evenings.

“The outside rehearsal on Monday was great,” said artistic director Lorna Ayers. “Transitioning to a new location is nothing to this group of professional Fandanglers.”

The next rehearsal is scheduled to take place this evening, April 4 at 7:30 p.m. at the lot next to the Bank Park.

“Everyone is really excited about the show’s theme this year, and it is apparent in their enthusiastic rehearsals,” said Ayers. “This year we are following the life of Sallie Renyolds Matthews, as she wrote about it in Interwoven. There are old songs we haven’t heard in a while and familiar songs with different staging, so it will be a fresh experience for Fandangle goers.”

Practices will be held at least twice a week from now until the 2019 Membership Sampler, which is scheduled to take place on April 20 at Lynne and Cliff Teinert’s Collins Creek Ranch, at the actual site of the historic Town of Fort Griffin.

Summer Shows

The Prairie Theater has been the home of the summer Fandangle shows since it was built in 1965. This year four performances are scheduled at the Prairie Theater – June 21, 22, 28, and 29 – starting at 8:30 p.m. each evening.

The parade is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 22 at 5:00 p.m. in downtown Albany.

Memberships

Memberships are available in a variety of levels, starting with the $25 Pioneer level for those aged 65 and over, and the $75 Longhorn level for those under 65.

Members at all levels receive an invitation to the Fandangle Membership Sampler.

All members have the opportunity to buy tickets to the summer Fandangle performances before the tickets go on sale to the general public on April 20, and members receive a pass to park in the priority parking area and are granted admission to the new Members’ Hospitality Tent.

Memberships at higher levels receive additional benefits.

Benefits offered at the Patron level ($150), Bronze ($250) and above include two or more tickets to the summer show, while Silver ($500), and higher level members are also provided seat cushions and meal vouchers.

Starting at the Gold level ($1,000), concession vouchers are included in the packages.

Platinum ($2,500) and Diamond ($5,000) members can arrange for a guided tour of Fort Griffin State Historic Site, enjoy a VIP Hospitality tent, and are also invited to join a cast member for a photo opportunity and a meet and greet on stage after the show.

“Your Fort Griffin Fandangle Association Membership is the backbone we depend on,” said Fandangle marketing director Rebecca Bridges. “Your generous support at any level is appreciated.”

Supporters are encouraged to return their membership dues as soon as they can so they can enjoy all the benefits that go along with their charitable contribution to the production of the outdoor musical.

Membership dues can be paid online at fortgriffin fandangle.org, by sending an email request to Bridges at info@fandangle.org, or by calling the Fandangle office at 325-762-3838.
