Fandangle practice to start next Monday
By Kathy Thomson
Fandangle rehearsals start next week, and everyone who wants to be in this year’s sampler or in the summer show, veteran or first-timer, is encouraged to come to the rehearsal and join their neighbors in the uniquely Albany activity.
“We invite anyone new to Fandangle or those who have been contemplating returning to Fandangle to come join us on Monday, March 16 for rehearsal,” said artistic director Lorna Ayers. “Horsemen and wagons can plan on joining us for rehearsals at Collins Creek beginning April 20.”
Practice will be at 7:30 p.m. on Monday nights through the month of March, and then double up to include both Monday and Thursday evenings starting in April.
“The script is finished, and we will be bringing back some songs that haven’t been done in years, so it will be a fun show!” Ayers said.
Along with cast members, Ayers is looking for someone who can fill in for costume manager Myra Hise, who is suffering from a broken hip.
“In the absence of our beloved Myra, who we hope to have returning to us after her recuperation, we are looking for a talented sewing individual who could help us in the interim,” said Ayers.
The 2020 Sampler will be held on Saturday, April 25 at The Flat, and the summer shows are set for June 19-20 and 26-27 at the Prairie Theater.
Ticket Give-A-Way
Fandangle marketing director Scarlett Yates announced on Monday that two tickets to this year’s summer show will be given away this Friday, March 13.
“It’s contest time, folks!” Yates wrote on the Fort Griffin Fandangle Facebook page. “We are giving away two tickets to the show the night of June 26. All you have to do to win is like this post, share it with your friends, and tell us who the person is you’d like to bring with you to the Fandangle!”
The drawing will take place on Friday at 4:00 p.m. The winner will be given two tickets to the show, along with a Fandangle key chain, bumper sticker, and shot glass.
