Donors asked to delay drop-offs

Like many schools, businesses, and other organizations, Closet Angels and Neighbors In Need have closed because of the -COVID-19 crisis in order to protect their volunteers as well as the general public, and everyone is asked to refrain from dropping off any donations until the pandemic is over and the non-profits are reopened.

“We realize that just like us, you would prefer to get all unwanted items out of your house,” said director Lori Reames. “However, we simply have nowhere to store extra bags, and currently it is not safe to expose our volunteers to bags from unknown origins. We knew at some point, Arms of Hope/Medina Children’s Home would likely stop picking up our surplus donations, and they did stop right after we closed!”

Neither Closet Angels or Neighbors In Need can accept items at this time, nor should any items be dropped off at their locations.

“We want to thank all of our donors who have been so understanding and supportive during this time that we cannot accept donations,” said Reames. “We do ask that you continue to hold onto your clothing and household items until both Closet Angels and Neighbors In Need can resume serving.”

Donors are reminded that items that are broken or worn out should never be left at either location, but should be hauled to the dump.

Although the non-profits are closed for now, those that are in urgent need of clothing or bedding can text Reames at 325-721-8620.

“We pray that you are making the most of your time away from your busy ‘normal’ schedule,” Reames said. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to love on your family and lean into God, for He is our refuge and our strength! We hope you are all well and taking precautions to keep yourself and others healthy.”
