DISTRICT 8-2A GYM CONDUCT

Albany News

OUR BASKETBALL SEASON IS NOW UNDERWAY.   WITH THE START OF THE SEASON, THERE ARE SOME ISSUES AND POLICIES THAT WE NEED TO ADDRESS.

Conduct of students and fans at the games should be supportive of the players.

WE TAKE GREAT PRIDE IN THE FACT THAT WE CONSIDER OURSELVES TO BE A “CLASS ACT.” OUR CONDUCT AS A STUDENT BODY AND COMMUNITY ARE ON DISPLAY AT THE BASKETBALL GAMES. INAPPROPRIATE CONDUCT GIVES THE WRONG IMPRESSION, AND AS ADMINISTRATORS, WE ARE ASKING OUR STUDENT BODY AND FANS TO PLEASE COMPLY WITH THE FOLLOWING:

• Admission into the game is a privilege to observe the contest, not a license to verbally assault others or be generally obnoxious.

• Learn the rules of the game, so that you may understand and appreciate why certain situations take place.

• Show respect for the opposing players, coaches, spectators and support Groups.

• Respect the integrity and judgment of game officials. Understand that they are doing their best to help promote the student-athlete, and admire their willingness to participate in full view of the public.

• Use only cheers that support and uplift the teams involved.

• Be a positive role model at events through your own actions and by censoring those around you whose behavior is unbecoming.

• Once you have finished eating, Please clean the table and put trash in the trash containers.

• students (Elementary, junior high and high school) need to be seated  in the Gym. the foyer needs to be kept clear of students, except

those who are actually eating and are seated at tables.

• Students are not allowed in the old gym during or between games.

The uil is very specific about penalties for

INAPPROPRIATE conduct by fans or players.

Spectators may be suspended from attendance

at all uil events for 10 ACTIVITY days.

the district is required to provide a written

report about the infraction, including names of spectators, to the uil. as spectators and fans,

Please do not do anything that will

penalize our school, OUR teams or yourself.

we should be supportive of our teams. As fans and

spectators, we should yell for our team and not at them. Let’s create a positive atmosphere for our players and teams.

thank you for your support of our school and teams.
