The deadline for writing thank you notes to buyers from the county stock show is Friday, March 26.

Show participants will need to write their notes and place them in stamped, addressed envelopes so they are ready to mail.

Notes will need to be verified by bringing them to Albany FFA sponsor and ag instructor Chris Beard who will then mail them.

Stock show participants are reminded that they must send a thank you note before they will receive their checks.

Beard also said that all outstanding balances due to the stock show, 4-H or FFA must be paid by Friday, April 2 or exhibitors will not receive their checks.

The pen clean up at the FFA barn is also scheduled for April 2.

Any students who fed animals at the FFA barn this year will need to clean their pens by the deadline or their exhibitor check will be held.

“Clean means removing all trash and feeding equipment from the pens,” said Beard. “Holes also will need to be filled, and the pens raked level.”

Any student who owes money to the FFA scholarship fund will need to have that amount paid by Monday, April 12.

Memorial Scholarship Applications

Memorial scholarship applications are also due on Friday, April 2.

All seniors may pick up an application from their FFA or 4-H advisor.

All applications will need to be turned in to Beard, and late applications will not be accepted.

Buyer-Seller Banquet

The annual Buyer-Seller Banquet will be held on Saturday, April 10 at The Feed Store.

The purpose of the event is to present premium checks and first place plaques, as well as recognize stock show supporters.

Scholarship receipients will also be announced during the evening.

Beard said the list of bidders is now available, and participants have been contacted so they can write their thank you letters and invite them to the April 10 event.

Stock Show Meeting

The Shackelford Youth & Livestock Association annual meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13 at the ag building.

Organizers and board members will discuss this year’s show and make final plans for the buyer-seller recognition.

Stock Show Pictures

Stock show pictures taken by The Albany News are ready for pickup.

They are available at the ag building rather than the county extension agent’s office. Anyone who hasn’t already picked up their pictures can contact Beard for more information.
