County Show-Off

Everyone is invited to attend the Shackelford Courthouse open house on Monday, Nov. 26, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

“We would love to have everybody show up,” said county treasurer Tammy Brown, who is organizing the event. “Several people from the Texas Historical Commission in Austin are planning to be here, and everybody from the area is more than welcome to come.”

Representatives of Premier Metalwerks and Komatsu Architecture, the companies that were in charge of the restoration, are also expected to be at the open house.

The event has been scheduled for the public to come and see the repairs and improvements that were made during the year-long $1.3 million restoration.

This week crews are oiling the wooden shutters to help protect them from damage by the sun, which is one of the final steps in the project.

The project included the long-awaited repair of the Courthouse clock, which has recently been tolling the time after being silent for a number of years.

Punch and cookies will be served at the come and go event, according to Brown.
