Shackelford County residents are reminded to pick up the August distribution of the commodity food program.

Dates to receive the commodities are Thursday, Aug. 6 and Friday, Aug. 7, with no restrictions.

On Thursday, Aug. 6, certified eligible families in Moran should pick up their monthly commodity food at the Moran City Hall between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m.

Albany families who have been certified eligible for the August food distribution program can pick up their commodity food Friday, Aug. 7 at the back door of the Justice of the Peace office from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Recipients who are unable to pick up their commodities in person can send a signed and dated note with someone to pick up the food for them.

JP office personnel urge residents to make sure each food commodity gets picked up so it does not go to waste.

The commodity supplemental food program (CSFP) is federally funded and works to improve the health of low-income and elderly people at least 60 years of age by supplementing their diets with nutritious USDA commodity foods.
