The second annual CareFest, a music festival fundraiser for Resource Care took place last Saturday, and the event sold out at 6:17 p.m. that evening.

“We sold out of all types of tickets, VIP, preferred, and general admission,” said ResourceCare marketing officer Christina Daugherty. “We had somewhere around 800 to 1,000 attendees.”

All of the available canopy and RV tickets had been claimed days before the event started, and all of the 175 general admission tickets that had still been available on Saturday morning were gone before the afternoon was over.

The fundraising event took place at Happy Wife Happy Life just outside of Albany last Saturday, Sept. 7, and organizers plan to continue the new annual tradition again next year.

“We haven’t set a firm date yet,” said Daugherty, “but it should be about the same time of year.”

Bands performing at this year’s event were Jenna McDaniel, Matt Stapp, Tejas Brothers, Sierra Scott, Kody West, Read Southall, Cody Canada and the Departed, Jason Boland and the Stragglers, and Parker McCollum.

All proceeds from the event go to ResourceCare’s outreach programs in Albany, Baird, Clyde, Breckenridge, Cross Plains, and Merkel.

According to Daugherty, this year’s event raised a lot more than last year’s inaugural CareFest, but no figures were available as of press time.

“We want to send a big thanks to the community for supporting us, and we hope to see them again next year,” said Daugherty. “We also want to thank the Albany Volunteer Fire Department, the Shackelford County sheriff’s office, ResourceCare’s board of directors, and all of the other volunteers.”
