The 2019-2020 school year starts at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 26 for students in the Moran Independent School District, and staff members have been busily preparing for their arrival.

“Teachers have been hard at work getting their classrooms prepared,” said new principal Jo Hise. “We are super excited and ready for a new year!”

According to administrative assistant Jeannie TenCate, 105 students are already enrolled and an additional 10 to 15 transfer students are also expected.

Classes at MISD begin at 8:00 a.m. and release at 4:00 p.m. daily.

The new MISD calendar includes optional/required fifth days allowing students who qualify for a shorter school week to opt out of classes on Friday, Aug. 30. Other students will be dismissed at 12:00 noon on Aug. 30 for the holiday weekend.

MISD is off for Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 2, with classes resuming at the normal time on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Meet the Teacher

Meet the Bulldogs, Open House, and Meet the Teacher all take place at the school campus today, Aug. 22, starting at 5:00 p.m.
