Classes set to resume on Monday

Classes in the Albany schools will resume on Monday morning, March 18 following a week-long spring break.

The tardy bells will ring as usual at 7:55 a.m. at Nancy Smith Elementary School and at the secondary campus.

The remainder of the semester will include mandatory state testing, interrupted by two holidays.

The next scheduled break is the Easter holiday, and students will be off on Good Friday, April 19, and Easter Monday, April 22. 

State Testing

State STAAR testing occurs April 9-12 and May 13-17. 

•April 9 – Grades 4 and 7 Writing; Grades 5 and 8 Math

•April 10 – Grades 5 and 8 Reading

•April 12 – STAAR make-up tests

•May 13 – Grades 3, 4, 6, and 7 Math, Retest Grades 5 and 8 Math

•May 14 – Grades 3, 4, 6, and 7 Reading, Retest Grades 5 and 8 Reading

•May 15 – Grades 5 and 8 Science

•May 16 – Grade 8 Social Studies

•May 17 – STAAR make-up tests

End of Course (EOC) exams take place April 9 and 11, and May 6-17.
