The city of Albany received a sales tax allotment of $30,781 from the state in April. The amount was down 8.29 percent from the $33,565 payment received in April of 2019.

Payments to date for the 2020 year to the city of Albany are $158,000, down by 23.38 percent from the comparable time last year, when payments of $206,214 had been made.

The city of Moran received a net payment of $1,556 this period, for a 30.38 percent increase from the $1,194 received in April 2019.

Payments to date for the 2020 year to the city of Moran are $7,138, up by 26.27 percent from the comparable time in 2019, when payments of $5,653 had been made.

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced that he sent cities, counties, transit systems, and special purpose taxing districts $701.8 million in local sales tax allocations for April, 0.5 percent less than in April 2019. These allocations are based on sales made in February by businesses that report tax monthly.

The May allocations, which will mostly reflect sales made in March, will begin to show the impact of pandemic-related business shutdowns. The comptroller’s office, therefore, expects local allocations in May to be lower, and June allocations to likely deteriorate further.
