Only a few hours are left to register a sale location in the 26th Annual Community Wide Garage Sale scheduled for this Saturday, Sept. 14 in Albany.

“Come in and get signed up to participate,” said Chamber manager Mary Beth Jones shortly after lunch on Tuesday. “We’ve already had seven sign up, and this was the first day to register. I’m expecting it to get even busier as it gets closer to the deadline on Thursday.”

To register a sale location, participants should go by the Albany Visitors Center before 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, to fill out a form and pay the fee, as well as pick up a yard sign.

Registration cost is $25, but $10 of the fee will be refunded upon request when the yard sign is returned to the Depot next week on Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 17-19, during the regular office hours of 10:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m.

The Chamber office is closed on Mondays and also over the lunch hour.

Maps showing locations of the registered garage sales are free and will be available at the Depot starting at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14 and will also be posted online at facebook.com/albanytx/.

“I’ll have the maps at the Chamber office in the Depot and stay open from 7:00 until 10:00 a.m. this Saturday,” Jones said. “I’ll leave some maps on the door when I close the office in case anyone still needs one.”

Participants place the Chamber-owned and numbered signs in their yards to help shoppers locate the sales.

The sales open at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.

“Sellers have asked me to remind everyone that they will not be ready before then,” said Jones. “Please remember there is not any ‘early bird’ shopping.”

Typically the sale draws from 20 to 30 individual sales in addition to local merchants’ bargain racks, and the sales usually wind down around lunch time.

“Gather up your loose change and save yourself some money by finding bargains at the garage sales around town this Saturday morning,” said Jones.
