With the Lenten season underway, local churches are announcing events leading up to Easter, which will be celebrated on Sunday, April 4.

Fish Fry Fundraiser

The Jesus of Nazareth Catholic Church will host a fish fry fundraiser from 5:45 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 12, following the Stations of the Cross at 5:15 p.m.

The menu includes fried fish, tater tots and hushpuppies, coleslaw, beans, and a brownie.

The church is accepting donations for the meal with a suggested contribution of $10 per plate.

The meal will be available by take-out only.

Albany’s Jesus of Nazareth Catholic Church is located at the top of One Mile Hill.

Community Service

The Ministerial Alliance continues to work on plans for the Easter Community Service.

This year’s Easter event is called AWAKEN and will be held at the Aztec  Theater at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 28.

Alliance members are planning for the event to include out-of-town speakers and a worship team.

The traditional Easter service takes place on Palm Sunday evening.
