Churches announce changes

While the shift is being made to come back to in-person gatherings, local churches are adjusting their safety protocols and finding ways to continue to reach as many in their congregations as possible.

Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church

MMPC announced last week that they would begin to meet again for Sunday worship at 11:00 a.m.

MMPC will also broadcast just the sermon and the entire Sunday worship service.

The children’s sermon and nursery will not be functioning at this time. Children are welcome to come to the service and sit with their parents.

The sanctuary, bathrooms, and building have been cleaned according to the CDC guidelines and will be cleaned after each service.

First United 

Methodist Church

Sunday worship service will meet at 11:00 a.m.

Pastor Tim Trimble said Sunday school and Bible study have been suspended for the summer.

Albany 

Church of Christ

Albany Church of Christ will keep meeting for  a 10:00 a.m. Sunday worship service. They will also continue to broadcast live from their Facebook page.

 Pastor Sonny McCauley said the church will maintain this pattern until the pandemic issues have passed.

First Baptist Church Albany

FBC will have one Sunday worship service at 10:45 a.m.

Pastor Jeff Turner said there have been some discussion about a future open date to begin meeting for Sunday school and other groups, but that date will be down the road.

Friendship Baptist Church

Friendship Baptist Church will meet for Sunday worship service at 10:55 a.m., and Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. for the junior and high school group.
