Christmas Gift

Albany News

Last Friday and Saturday, Dec. 14 and 15, Robert Nail’s Albany Nativity was presented as a Christmas gift for everyone who took the time to come to the Aztec Theater, pick up a free ticket, step inside, take a seat, and watch their friends and neighbors act out the true story of Christmas.

“I am so grateful to all the cast, choirs, and crew who volunteered their time and talent to this production,” said director Lorna Ayers. “It is a privilege to be a part of something so special.”

Ayers said that the people of Albany are dedicated to preserving their heritage and are willing to sacrifice their time to continue traditions like the Nativity

“No one is paid; it is all done by volunteers who contribute their time,” said assistant director Ragan Riley. “I was backstage the whole time, and it ran very smoothly with everyone pitching in and helping. It was an amazing atmosphere of camaraderie and friendship.”

Riley said that the Angelic Choir was especially good this year.

“I want to send out a huge thanks to the junior high and high school girls in the Angelic Choir,” she said. “From what I have been told, this is the first time in many years that we have had 12 angels in the choir!”

The biennial production was well attended again this year, but did not sell out.
