The Albany Chamber of Commerce will honor two community members as Albany Stars on Thursday, March 3.

The program will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Aztec Theater.

“We invite everybody – it doesn’t matter if you’re a Chamber member or not – to come out and see who our Albany Stars are,” Chamber manager Mary Beth Jones said. “They were nominated from the community, and the board took that information and made their choices. We had lots of good candidates, and it was hard to narrow it down to the two.”

Jones said the program will be finalized at a committee meeting on Monday, Feb. 28.

“We’re trying to make this an Albany event all the way around with the food, the decorations, the tables, and every other way that we can think of,” she said.

The Albany Stars recognize individuals and businesses for their support of the community.

“We host Stars events on even years, so the next one will be 2024,” Jones said.

Upcoming Events

The Chamber’s annual Membership Appreciation Crawfish Boil has been scheduled for Thursday, April 7, at the Chamber parking lot.

“We definitely want everybody to come,” Jones said. “People need to get a Chamber membership paid for, or they can join that night.”

Albany Bucks

Jones said that the Albany Bucks program had its best redemption rate yet.

“Nearly everybody this year cashed in their Albany Bucks, which is a first,” she said. “We were so thrilled. Very few winners didn’t pick them up, which is a good sign.”
