Tomorrow, Feb. 7 the Albany Chamber of Commerce will hold the annual membership meeting at the Beehive Restaurant immediately after the 12:00 noon luncheon, and all members are encouraged to attend.

The agenda is expected to include a financial report and electing of directors.

Each year, several of the board terms come up for election on a rotating basis, and directors are chosen at the annual meeting.

Seats held by Ramby Anderson and Clayton Snyder are up for election this cycle. Both positions are for three-year terms. In addition, the final year of Randall Palmore’s term is also available.

Randall has told Chamber manager Mary Beth Jones that he had decided to step down from the board, although he will remain a member of the Chamber.

“I have been honored to serve on the Chamber board for, I think, 35 years,” Palmore told Jones.

According to Jones, the current Chamber president appoints a nominating committee to fill spots on the board, and then committee recommendations are voted on by all Chamber members at the Feb. 7 meeting.

“Anyone interested in serving should contact Ramby Anderson, who is Chamber president,” said Jones.

The current directors and the newly elected board members will choose officers at a directors meeting to be held later in the month.

In addition to Anderson, current officers include vice president Robert Dacus, treasurer Lisa Barton, and secretary Mary Beth Jones.

Others directors are Jana Kitchens, Susan Montgomery, Chris Beard, Jonathan Scott, Tracy Sullivan, Megaen Birdwell, and Landy Warren.

Although the board included 15 directors for a time, as allowed by the by-laws, it was reduced back to 12 members a few years ago to become compliant with the number of seats stipulated in the group’s charter. As a result of the change, although five seats come up other years, only two of the regular three-year seats will be voted on this year.

“Chamber membership is open to those who want to join in and help Albany stay alive and prospering,” said Jones. “If you want to join, come by the office, call me at 325-762-2525, or email me at chamber@albanytexas.com.
