Camp Jam, meaning Jesus and me, is ready to kick into full gear Thursday, July 16.

The camp, organized by First Baptist Church, will host youth going into eighth through 12th grades.

FBC youth minister Campbell Terry said the Disciple Now style camp will run until Sunday, July 19.

Terry added that there are spots still available for students who would like to attend, but all host families have been filled.

“We will take registration at the door the day camp starts,” he said.

All campers are to meet on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at FBC in the fellowship hall.

After the opening rally on Thursday night, campers will split off to their host families’ homes.

“When the campers meet as a group at the church, the same rules will apply that are followed during Sunday worship,” Terry said. “The groups will also come together to participate in knocker ball, dodge ball, fishing, a clay pigeon shoot, and swimming.”

Terry explained that precautions are being made to keep all leaders and campers healthy.

“We look forward to camp and to see what happens with these kids during this experience,” he said.

Church Lock-Ins

First Baptist Church will also host a lock-in for students who have completed fourth to sixth grade starting on Wednesday evening, July 24 and ending on the morning of July 25.

Students who have completed first to third grade will have a lock-in starting Friday, July 31 and finishing up the next morning.

Lock-ins for both age groups will be $50.

“Registration will remain open until the lock-in dates,” Terry said. “We are taking things day by day with Corona, but plans remain the same for now.”
