Shackelford County commissioners took care of a single item on the agenda of a special meeting last Thursday morning, Jan. 2, adjourning just a few minutes after they convened.

The elected officials, as they had planned, reinstated the county-wide burn ban, which was only lifted temporarily in order to accommodate a few county citizens who had requested to burn brush piles.

County judge Robert Skelton said Tuesday that not all of those on the list were able to get their brush piles burned in the 10-day window, but because of ongoing concerns about possible wildfires, commissioners wanted the ban back in place as soon as possible.

The next regular meeting of the commissioners is next Monday, Jan. 13 at 9:00 a.m. in the courtroom.
