A community blood drive will take place in Albany on Thursday, March 14, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club. The Hendrick Regional Blood Center bloodmobile will be parked at First Baptist Church from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

At the most recent blood drive just before Christmas, local residents gave 21 pints of blood.

There were actually 28 donors, but some weren’t able to give for various reasons, according to donor recruiter Frances Baker.

“The citizens of Albany will have the opportunity to save a life by donating blood,” said Baker. “It is vital to have enough blood available to meet patient needs at 17 area hospitals.”

Patients who may need blood transfusions include cancer patients, babies in the NICU, pediatric patients, surgical patients and accident or trauma victims.

Donors will receive a T-shirt. Those who have eligibility questions can call 325-670-2880.
