Registration forms for T-Ball, Coach Pitch, and Little League are available at local schools, and the signup deadline is next Thursday, Feb. 28.

Players that will be eight years old or older on Aug. 31, 2019 need to attend the Feb. 28 registration meeting at The Feed Store with their parents to sign up for Little League.

“The T-Ball and Coach Pitch youth do not need to attend the meeting,” said league organizer Anthony Ceder. “But they do need to turn in their completed registration forms along with the registration fee to the Nancy Smith Elementary School office by next Thursday, Feb. 28.”

Registration fees are $40 for T-Ball, $50 for Coach Pitch, and $75 for Little League. The enrollment money is used to provide insurance, jerseys, caps, umpires, equipment, and for field maintenance.

Parents of Little League players will need to bring the completed registration form, including the school enrollment form, to the registration meeting at The Feed Store from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28. The $75 fee is also due at that time.

Children that have not competed in Little League before will also need to bring a copy of their birth certificate. The birth certificates of those who have played on an Albany Little League team in the past should still be on file with the league, and it is not necessary to bring a copy.

Parents and all coaches will need to fill out and turn in a volunteer form.

“Little League players need to come to the meeting even if they have played before,” said Ceder. “We need them to try on a jersey and cap.”

Ceder said that parents and Little League players can come and sign up anytime during the 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. registration window on Feb. 28.

Try-Outs

Try-outs for those playing in Little League for the first time will be held on Saturday, March 2 at 5:30 p.m., and make-up try-outs will be the following day, March 3, at 4:00 p.m.

“There are no try-outs for T-ball or Coach Pitch,” added Ceder, “but players entering Little League for the first time must try out.”

Little League is designed for boys and girls between eight and 12 years of age.

“Players that turn eight before Aug. 31, 2019 will play in Little League,” said Ceder. “Students who are 13 or older before Aug. 31, 2019 are not eligible.”
