Christmas, which in America is traditionally celebrated with family gatherings, gift giving, and holiday foods, is only a month away, and members of the Albany Ministerial Alliance are once again working to try and insure that everyone in the county, even those who are having financial difficulties, have a chance to enjoy a special Yuletide meal this year.

Applications for the Alliance’s Christmas baskets are currently available at participating churches and at ResourceCare.

Completed forms need to be returned before the deadline on Friday, Dec. 6.

The Christmas baskets are filled with various food items to help insure that everyone in the community has healthy food for the holiday and typically include either a turkey or ham, along with vegetables and other items for a traditional holiday meal.

Applicants who ask for home delivery need to make sure that someone can be at their address when the baskets are delivered on Sunday, Dec. 22, since the food items can not be left on the doorstep unattended.

Donations for the annual Christmas basket drive will be collected at next Sunday’s community Thanksgiving service. Contributions can also be given to any of the participating pastors or mailed to the Ministerial Alliance, PO Box 3084, Albany, Texas 76430.
