Albany lost to Jim Ned 28-8 in their first game of the tournament.

“The girls played a lot better than the score,” said coach Clint Chapman. “We had a hard time getting the ball in the basket the whole weekend.”

Scoring for Albany were Caroline Chapman 4, Avarie Myrick 2, and Madison Holson 2.

Albany played Clyde in game two, winning 14-0.

“Our defense made up for a struggling offense,” said the coach. “The girls moved the ball around in the second half and scored some buckets.”

Putting points on the board were Madison Holson 4, Avarie Myrick 4, Kaisley Bartee 4, and Braylee Clark 2.

The local girls held on to beat Eula 15-13 in game 3.

“This was a hard and evenly matched battle between two good teams,” said coach Chapman. “This game went into double overtime and Albany came out ahead in the end. It was an excellent all-out effort from all the girls and showed that they don’t quit.”

Scoring were Avarie Myrick 5, Caroline Chapman 4, Braylee Clark 2, Kaisley Bartee 2, and Madison Holson 2.

“I am super proud of these girls and can’t wait to see their success in Albany’s junior high basketball program,” said the coach. “Thanks to all the parents who helped keep books and car pool girls!”

Also on the team are Mimi Ivy, Paisley Clark, Serenity Murphy, and Brook Green.
