Albany students qualify for state TMSCA meet
The Albany Middle School TMSCA team wrapped up regional competition with strong results, securing nine testing opportunities at the upcoming state meet in San Antonio on March 29.
Now in its second year, the program continues to expand, adding 7th and 8th grade competitors this season. Last year, the team consisted only of 6th graders, qualifying in number sense and science with six tests across four students. This year, the team maintained those qualifications and added mathematics, marking continued progress.
State Qualifiers:

•Kingston Balliew (6th grade) – Mathematics
•Travis Hill (6th grade) – Number Sense, Mathematics & Science
•Tanner Howe (6th grade) – Number Sense, Mathematics & Science
Regional Results:
Albany held its own against larger 2A-5A schools, placing 5th in Number Sense & Mathematics and 4th in Science.

Building for the Future
The Albany Middle School TMSCA team consists of Kingston Balliew, Tanner Howe, Travis Hill, Hadley Stapp, Maya Rosales, Carly Kreitler, Kimberly Howe, Mason Cradduck, and Hailey Gleitz.
“The students have put in countless hours outside of their instructional days,” team representative Kelli Kreitler said. “We will continue to prepare for the state meet and make plans to improve our success for all of our students in next year’s qualifiers.”
With state just weeks away, team members are fine-tuning their skills and making a strong showing for Albany on the statewide stage.
