Fourteen local third to sixth graders and 11 junior high students from the Albany Church of Christ, along with their team leaders and many parents, attended the North Texas Leadership Training for Christ (LTC) Convention at the Downtown Hyatt Regency in Dallas last weekend, April 19-20.

Both the elementary and the junior high groups participated in chorus, drama, and puppet team events.

Youth from the Albany Church of Christ have participated in LTC for the last 12 years.

“The church’s youth group looks forward to the event every year,” said Jennifer Everitt, who along with Ginny Ivy, Helen Ivy, and Bea Ruff, served as team leaders for the elementary children.

“Students work to achieve a gold medal performance in each event,” she said. “It is a great time of Christian fellowship that allows Albany youth to associate with Christians across the state.”

Kenzie Fairchild was the leader for the middle school kids.

Both age groups scored gold (the highest score) in all three events.

“A lot of hard work has gone towards this since late October and early November,” said Ginny Ivy.

The elementary group included Mimi Ivy, Avery Everitt, Kaisley Bartee, Cade Fairchild, Calhan Fairchild, Bennett Neece, and Mason McCloy.

Also in the group were Brodey Oliver, Tatum Grady, Charli Trail, Avarie Myrick, Kooper Lowther, Colter Edgar, and Carsyn Clegg.

The junior high participants were Cason Fair-child, Robin Lucas, Houston Heatly, Cooper Edgar, Zane Waggoner, Robyn Trail, Brooklyn Abbate, Braylyn Abbate, Ashlyn Holson, Callan Edgar, and Cambree Clegg.

The theme chosen for this year’s convention was No Greater Love and is taken from John 15:13, Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
